Christ in us, the hope of glory
A few weeks ago, I wrote in our weekly blurb about what we can do in these troubling times. How do we pray in these times of unrest, times of climate change, increasing poverty, of sickness? How do we pray? And I offered a few options. If you’d like to be reminded of those you can visit our website here.
This week I want to offer another aspect of hope as we continue to navigate this “new normal”. And I put those two words in quotation marks because I actually don’t believe that our current way has to be a new normal. But it's beginning to feel more and more like the normal isn’t it?
So, what hopes might I be able to offer? Well, it’s from our scripture reading today in Colossians. From Colossians 1:27, Paul offers us these few words: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” It’s the hope of Christ in all of us. Our best gift to offer this world, in the chaos, in the uncertainty, in the mess of it all, is our peace and confidence in Christ. Remember those words from Paul - the peace of Christ, which transcends all understanding …that peace isn’t just for us as people of Christ.
We offer it to our world. In the midst of the worry, in the midst of the catastrophic flooding our region has faced, the constant wars taking place in our world, the loss of civility, of love, of grace, of compassion, we, with Christ in us, offer those things the world so desperately needs. We offer compassion, love, grace, and much more to a world that desperately needs it and is desperately looking for answers in the uncertainty. So please don’t ever lose sight of the Hope of Christ in you. It is good news not just for you, but for our world.
God Bless
