Whakatū Kids
At Whakatū kids (3-10) we're all about creating an environment where our children will grow into life long followers of Jesus. We believe our young people are the life of the church and so want them to not just feel like they are welcome at church, but that they belong and are a valued part of our community. Every Sunday during term time we join together to laugh, play, read scripture and explore who Jesus is and encourage one and another in following his invitation to come and follow him.
Whakatū Youth
Whakatū Youth (11-15) meets fortnightly during the Sunday service. We want to encourage our young people to take ownership of their faith and begin to think critically about what it means to come and follow Jesus. We do this through food, games and exploring the scriptures in a safe fun environment. We also believe that serving is part of being a part of belonging to a healthy, engaging community and so we try to create oppurtunities for our young people to serve in our services, whether that be on the sound desk, playing in the band, or other oppurtunities that arise.
Whakatū Young Adults
Our young adult ministry (18-30ish) meets weekly at Sage and Nina's home on a Monday night 7.30-9.30pm. Our rhythm is biweekly. On the first week we're spending time exploring scripture and how it guides us in our lives, both personally and vocationally and the other week we join together playing board games. We see the board games as a missional oppurtunity to invite people into the space in a non threatening safe environment.
Connect Groups
We as a church, want to create an environment where we all care and support one another. Our Connect Groups are one of those spaces. The heart of our connect groups is that we pray together and we pastorally care for one another. Our Connect Groups are a place where our church whanau can thrive. Encouraging one another in their relationship with God and one another. Connect groups are our key way in which we do our pastoral care. We strive to have all our people involved in connect groups.
